I have no lines in this video, but is a piece of the sprite production that I am involved in. You will be able to observe how this production will be animated throughout, as well as hear many of the other talented VAs on the cast. Near the end of the video, you will get to hear a quick sample of the voices I will be using; they are different from the ones in my audition. Just as a reminder, I am cast for the roles of Axel and Leon, both from Kingdom Hearts.

Currently Listening To: FLOW – Code Geass OP – “COLORS”

Though I had written a rather popular entry called IsShouKenMei As Applied To Byousoku 5 Centimeter in late November ‘07, I had not written anything for publication for my occupation as a Staff Writer at Anime-Source.com since late August ‘07 after Otakon came and went. This pathetic truth haunted me, as I believed that any day I would be visit the site only to find my staff privileges removed. Instead, I was given an ultimatum by my “boss”…and with that, I was able to respond accordingly, isshoukenmei and all. Though this has not been explicitly stated, I realize that I will not be excused from such negligent conduct again unless I have a better reason than I can’t write the way I want to.

So…after keeping quiet about this until completion — I am notorious for not following up when I say I am “planning” to do something — I am proudly announcing my newest anime preview of Shion No Ou that was just published on A-S about an hour ago. It really feels good to put out something again that is sure to be read and appreciated by at least a few like-minded anime fans. With many choices for anime to review all the time, I hope to produce more like this.

Whether anime enthusiast or not, I appreciate open commentary as always.

Currently Listening To: S.E.N.S. – “Kaze no you ni”

wayne_towne_center I really don’t usually write blog entries on these sorts of topics, but due to receiving some honest commentary on my blogging of the local Wayne Borders bookstore closing from friends and one knowledgeable individual, I decided to blog an update report on some inside information I overheard while standing in line of the Wayne Borders today.

According to a cashier in the Wayne Borders, Borders is not the only store closing. All of Wayne Towne Center, except for Fortunoff and JC Penny, is being shut down and demolished.

Now, I was never a big fan of the stores in this cluster, but somehow I don’t think that this includes TGI Fridays either. I believe this individual was referring to the building that houses Borders and everything within it. The knowledgeable commentator I spoke of, rinosatrot, offered some additional information regarding Borders as an “unprofitable business.”

Books aren’t going out of style; Borders is just an unprofitable business. They reported a huge 161.1 million dollar loss for those three months alone. (See the 2007 third quarter results.)

The last time I attempted to look up sales results of a company, I had a hard time finding it plastered on the internet somewhere. When offered so openly, there is no way for me to doubt this information, but it seems that the reason for this particular Borders to go down under is more than just profit loss. Also, this makes me wonder that if Borders has been financially suffering like this, what could they possibly be doing wrong that Barnes and Noble is doing right? One possible angle I see is if perhaps the bourgeois atmosphere of B&N maybe has more appeal than Borders’ casual, kick-your-shoes-off model.

I should also mention that while strolling Willowbrook Mall this same day, I heard one guy say “What’s with all the stores closing down?” At that particular moment, him and I were crossing paths in front of what once was Suncoast. The inside of the store was stripped bare and boxes were stacked atop one another.

sacred force banner

So…my iStory, Sacred Force, has actually reached 100 daily entries. When I began back in mid October, I didn’t think writing on the fly could ever work — I was desperate to create again, writing a little bit each day, never quite knowing myself how I would tie in continuity days later. Instead, quite the opposite has happened. Anytime I missed a day, I caught right back up and tacked it to the day I had missed. Even when I didn’t feel like writing for that day, I did it anyway. Adding a “0″ to my past links feels really good…

I do not want to get too caught up in this mild achievement that may ruin what my imagination has tied together thus far. I would be a fool to think that this is does not need any revision. Thing is, there is never any hope for a story until it begins, and there is no story until it has an ending.

Though my manga project has been stop-and-go for what will be five years come late August, this has been ongoing every day since October 12th. I have become very fond of both projects and fell in love with my characters. I hope someday someone other than my manga partner and I can fall in love with them. Unlike the manga project, however, I am doing Sacred Force publicly whether anyone notices or not.

To write, uncertain if anyone would ever care to read it, is a scary thing. Scared or not, I don’t want to die thinking that I may have kept someone from experiencing something that only I have the power to bring into existence. Thus is the responsibility of someone who writes, because I damn sure am not a writer…
