Because I enjoy watching myself suffer, I decided to run a experiment using Twitter to gauge which method works best for receiving a high user response to my daily updates. My catalyst is my daily updated story, Sacred Force. I thought this would be an interesting way to rate how useful Twitter, a web application and social outlet, can be depending on how one updates themselves and those around them. So how did I come to realize this?
Seeing as how I have picked up about ten or so additional Followers outside of my online social circle on my main Twitter account simply by having a particular keyword that grabbed the attention of someone on the Public Timeline (e.g. Japanese, PHP, etc.), I wanted to rate how those in the social pool of Twitter-ers might respond to various styles of updating. I plan on using three different styles of presenting my updates over the course of a week or so for each. Depending on what happens, I may extend the experimental period.
Those who are web developers and designers might notice a similarity in my experiment congruent to gauging user interactivity and click-through rate by testing various layouts and/or site features for a set duration. They would then take note of the statistics, and incorporate the most profitable setting permanently. I haven’t decided whether or not to blog my results here. That would depend on how worthwhile my findings are. As for myself, I think it would be low-key enough to not impose on my already active, isshoukenmei-driven lifestyle.
If interested in directly (or indirectly) taking part in this experiment, you can do so one of two ways:
- 1) Create a Twitter account & Follow Sacred Force’s Twitter. This is the most effective method of keeping track of updates in my opinion.
OR
- 2) Subscribe to the Sacred Force Twitter RSS Feed. This is the middle ground of keeping track, but the most convenient for the web-centered individual.
OR
- 3) Visit the Sacred Force Twitter Home page or go directly to this blog’s iStory page. I would only recommend this option if you come around here often to see if I’ve blogged.
Obviously, any interest generated from this blog entry is from those who either have interest in me, and/or are curious about what kind of story Sacred Force is and/or will evolve into. In any case, support is appreciated how ever it appears.
