Matoko had started walking ahead as he said those words, furious.

For a moment, as I watched him, I thought I saw an aura rise about him. The words that came to mind were…”I’ll fight beside you…” but as I chased after him, the illusion faded. I was caught up in the moment for sure. For someone a year below me, a 1st year, I was taken by his resolve…Since that day, my heart went crazy for him.

——————–

“Matoko!”

Kyohei wore an apron, knocking hard on his door expecting a sullen response. “Hey! I’m coming in! Why are you ignor–eh?” His room was empty.

“It’s almost 7PM and he’s not here?! Well this is totally unlike him,” he mumbled, walking down the hall, when he heard a soft squeak come from behind the front door.

“Nah. I’m hearing thi-” Again, another sound. He was intrigued.

Tiptoeing towards the door, he could hear short gasps. His heart began racing.

“This is either something intense or a really bad prank..!”

His fingers rested on the handle, opening it slowly.

“…!”

The soft mews were coming from Tomoe, engaging in a sensual kiss with Matoko. Kyohei’s eyes grew wide — he could see their tongues almost tied together between salivating lips, fully engrossed.

Kyohei grinned. “So that’s the reason. Time to be ‘big brother’!”

Flinging the door open, he put on an angry face.

“What’s going on out here?!”

The couple lept in surprise, attached by a string of saliva.

“K-Kyohei!” He had shoved Tomoe away as his reflexes caught his words.

“You…!” Tomoe had quickly recovered her balance snapping back with a punch to his other cheek. Kyohei was dumbfounded.

………………………

“You totally deserved that one, Matoko!” he said with a laugh, the only one inside the house pleased. “But yeah. It looked like two girls were making out at my door. I thought I hit the jackpot!”

Matoko’s agitated gaze was off at nothing. “You are doing this on purpose, aren’t you…?” Tomoe was equally embarrassed and upset at being discovered.

“So, why don’t you stay for dinner?”

Immediately, Kyohei had his brother’s attention. “What?! Kyohei!” he said with his eyebrow raised.

Tomoe was just as flabbergasted. “Umm…uh…that is very kind of you to offer…but I really shouldn’t–”

“Oh, don’t be modest! Besides..” Kyohei’s eyes turned devious. “If you’re gonna stand outside my door and make out with Matoko, then you might as well eat with him too.” She lowered her head.

“Tomoe, you don’t have to listen–!”

Her palm stopped in front of Matoko’s face. “It’s alright…” The shadow lifted from her eyes, exposing her gentle smile. “I’ve always wanted to visit your home…Matoko!”

“Tomoe…!” His lips formed a gentle smile.

“Alright alright!” Kyohei wedged between them. “Make yourself at home, young lady. Matoko needs to go buy some soy sauce.”

“…?”

“Yeah. You.”

“I–” Tomoe was silenced by Kyohei’s index finger. “You want to go with him, don’t you?” Tomoe’s guilty eyes replied. “He can handle it.”

“Are you trying to act like my father?” “Then, I’ll be back.”

“Sure thing.”

Heading into the living room, he motioned Tomoe to follow.

“Thank you for your hospitality, Nakushita-san.”

“Kyohei. No need to be formal around here.”

“Ah. Kyohei then.”

Kyohei flopped on the couch with Tomoe claiming the recliner.

“How can I relax like this..?” Furrowing her brow a bit, she opened her mouth. “Um..what are you to Matoko?”

“Hm?” Kyohei raised his eyebrow, playing with a cigarette between his fingers. “What kind of question is–Wait. Who do you think I am?”

“His father.”

“No hesitation…!” Baffled, Kyohei nearly fell over.

“I’m sorry! It’s just that you two look nothing alike.”

Sighing, he smirked blissfully at her. “It’s true though. We don’t, but I’m his older brother by four years.”

“Ah, being causal makes sense then.”

“Yeah. Well, it’s my turn to ask a funny question. You ready?”

“Yes!”

His playful demeanor vanished.

“Has Matoko ever mentioned anything to you about his dreams?”
