Usually, in the time between my writing in this blog, I am busy working towards having something to show for my hard work living according to isshoukenmei. Until I have an idea of what I can share, whether it be an accomplishment, failiure, or another twist on the meaning of my blog, I usually refrain from sharing it. However, in this week alone, I have experienced a call to action that has never hit me like this before.
In this week alone, I have somehow been tracked down by four people — one of them I speak to fairly regularly — who thought I might be interested in doing a voice acting role for them. I was also given a nomination for the Fanime Awards, of which I need to record a speech for regardless of whether I win or not. This isn’t to brag or to seem high and mighty, but the idea that five opportunities could be given to me in such repetition is unbelievable to me.
I’m not anyone prolific on YouTube, so for people just to “happen to find me while surfing” is shocking to say the least. As for the nomination, I don’t recall ever being nominated for anything worth noting (unless you count text RPing), especially online. I don’t believe I will actually win, however, and voted for someone who deserved it way more, based on what they have up on YouTube already.
I should mention that it seems my hope of using YouTube as a networking tool to get my foot in the door for voice acting has gradually been paying off. One of the roles I was offered to audition for was a recommended reference from my wonderful friend and fellow aspiring, passionate VA. The wonderful thing is that I was able to turn around and recommend her for that same role that I was offered yesterday that turned out not to be one I effectively execute on any convincing level. Now if only I were more apt to network for my full-time job…
Though that particular role, for me, was a bust, the project leader allowed me to try out three other roles. In accordance with his deadline — the same day he offered the opportunity for me to audition (x_x) — I put together my newest voice demo reel that I think went very well. If you have three minutes to take a listen to my Dot Hack//Trilogy Fandub Audition, please do and share your impressions. They are very important to me as an aspiring VA, for I believe it is the listeners that essentially determine who is remembered in the midst of general chit-chat, especially among anime fans and gamers.

Ahahaha, so you’re really wanting to get into VAing, eh? I never thought someone’s passion could just spring up from no where like yours has done.
I am doing quite fine, by the way. School starts again tomorrow, and I have an Algebra Honors 2 Placement Exam for highschool on Tuesday, which I haven’t studied for at all over break X_x”
I pray there be more to come…
Ah, yes… be careful though. Your passion and enthusiasm may keep pushing you foward, but getting too much for yourself is also a bad thing. You must know when to deny a role, and not try out at all. Not that I’m saying what you all have now is too much, but it may come to be. But don’t we all want “that” role, yet you can’t give up your current obligations… Just try not to over work yourself… it’s harder to get back up again when you’re old… XD;; You have the talent and passion, but as humans, we do have limits… speaking of which… I’m started to loose my voice this weekend… ^_^ Now I have an excuse to not do morning Student Council announcements XD ~Kayuri-chan (heed the warning, young one who seeks too much… (lulz))

*shakes head* There’s something I haven’t told you, Kayuri-chan. I have wanted to voice act for over 6 years. It was only when I became wiser about opening up possibilities for me that I began to actually be able to act upon them like I am now. The passion has always been there. It’s just that it has a chance to be acknowledged.
It’s too bad we couldn’t connect. You never told me when you were free during your Spring break, silly girl. >_> I’m thankful that you’re well, and that you could leave me a little something tonight.
Your youthful guidance (yeah, like I’m an old hag x_x) is appreciated, but I can confidently say that I know my limits. I’d rather not overwork myself either. Most of the opportunities offered to me are small roles and easy to juggle. I just know that any little bit is a chance that could be what my repertoire needs to get my foot in the door. You should take care of yourself too, since you must be loosing your voice for a reason, hmmm? =P
