storymode_avatarEver wanted to draw a manga, but could never form a coherent plot in your mind? Have a desire to draw with a creative individual who is serious about starting up a story and getting published? Then this entry is for you.

In light of me restarting the writing process of Sacred Force as of this evening, I decided to go out on a limb and put this out there, even though it is not guaranteed that I won’t fall out of rhythm again. As someone on the other end of the spectrum — I can write but cannot draw well enough — I am interested in getting the ball rolling for partnering with someone who:

  • Has a passion for art/drawing,
  • An interest in manga, and
  • Is genuinely excited about where I am going with my iStory, Sacred Force.

  • More specifically, I am looking for an “artist” who has a strong background and practice in drawing in traditional Japanese-style manga for the sake of getting together an ashcan. For now, this means I am only looking to get something out there to the public. You are expected to be prepared and comfortable with ALL of the following:

  • A scanner that you trust
  • OR

  • A tablet that you trust
  • Photoshop or other software (e.g. Manga Studio) for inking/toning/word bubbles
  • Becoming my trustworthy, reliable comrade

  • I won’t go into specifics of ashcan “specs” until I have someone who is willing to cooperate with my creative direction while still having enough freedom to utilize their cultivated style. I will be as flexible as possible with your schedule, receptive to potential ideas, and brutally honest about what I am looking for.

To be frank, I don’t know how far this sort of thing will go. I am very busy with a variety of responsibilities, but I have a sincere desire to become a published manga writer. So, the way I see it, the only thing to do is to start instead of wasting time mulling it over. I am also familiar with doujinshi and how Comiket is, but have no experience with printing. This person and I will have to learn the ropes together, unless they already know and that is a major plus.

Please take into account the following BEFORE you apply:

  • I will ONLY answer questions that are posted as a comment to this entry. Any questions asked in your application WILL be disregarded.
  • I will ONLY reply back to you if you have been chosen.
  • Your artwork and privacy WILL NOT be compromised or divulged publicly. If you are not chosen, your files will be discarded and you will still own the original piece.
  • All rights to Sacred Force as an original concept (characters, plot, text, etc.) belong to me. Credit will be given where credit is due, however.
  • I reserve the right to cancel our partnership at any time relations sour and/or we are unable to make proper agreeable progress.
  • Well…there’s my invitation. If you are at all interested in applying, please e-mail the following information to kairi period sukidane at googlemail. Applications will be taken until August 6th 00:00EST:
