Back in March, I decided to begin an experiment using my iStory, Sacred Force, and Twitter. I am notorious for not following up properly when I make bold claims, so I decided to do so with visual flair.
The overall goal was to test how many Twitter-ers would take interest in Sacred Force just by me tweeting into the Public Timeline, similar to how I obtained non-spammy Followers on my main Twitter account. Most of my Followers, however, are people I know who took it upon themselves to Follow that account. The results, as expected, were not favorable at all, aside from there being a few higher consistent views compared to when I wasn’t using Twitter.
Just to highlight a few details from my experiment, I used three methods of tweeting updates for Sacred Force:
- Update: #? now available. [3/08 - 4/09]
- Story Update: Installment #? is now available (direct link) [4/11 - 5/02]
- Update: Installment #? available: (direct link) – (first few words from update OR a comment) [5/07 - 6/11]
Despite how my updates quickly tapered off during May, the first two show that viewers were consistent according to my frequency of updates. However, the third method, though sparse — I was barely updating during that period — showed a more significant response overall.
The problem is that I cannot attribute all of my views towards the fact that I was or wasn’t updating Twitter. What I can say is that my third method is probably the more effective one in encouraging click-thrus. I have been using the third method since I restarted, and I have received a few clicks already. I will probably alternate between the second and third method and hopefully obtain a more accurate result that way.
So yeah. That unnecessarily elaborate graph I made for this that no one except me will care about…? A complete waste of my latter afternoon. For a graph, it does look spiffy I must say, but still pretty pointless considering my results. Yay irony for my best day to be right before I completely halted updating and right before I restarted.
Does it matter to you whether or not I continue using Twitter to post when I update Sacred Force?

I care about the chart. ^_^ It is very nicely made, my friend. How did you do it? I’m intrigued. By the way, don’t you ever halt on Sacred Force again…not unless you have a serious case of writer’s block. I will excuse that and I will make the exception of a week of it going untouched maybe two, but nothing beyond that. >_> Not unless you want me to find where you live and sit outside your apartment with a pitch fork and torch. An one man angry mob! Er… *scratches head* Maybe I won’t go that far…but I will form an one man angry mob on the Internet. *hugs* Teh Aikou loves teh Alexiel’s story. Teh Aikou doesn’t like the breaks. Although it is understandable. With a job, an amateur voice acting career on YT….uh…XMA practice…um…well that is all I can think of at the moment, but still a week maximum. Other than that you did great work on the chart and I am looking forward to what happens next in Sacred Force.

By the way, before I forget…updating on Twitter about Sacred Force helps me know what the latest installment is when I don’t talk to you that day. I appreciate the effort you put into the story and posting a tweet. Thank you, Alexiel. *hugs*
